2009

Well, folks! Its almost the end of 2008. Its been a good year for PHB and we hope that 2009 will be even better. Its not easy though, as clubs are experiencing a loss due to the non-smoking laws and very tough DUI laws. This results in a lot fewer folks going out for the night on weekends and therefore, less booking for bands. Obviously, we hope that we can continue to perform, but we do have to expand our gig base to farther venues. We certainly wish that 2009 will be a even better year, with more people supporting live music and venturing out to our shows.We also are aware of the hard, financial times we all face and wish that all of you have a much better 2009 as well. So, from all of us in PHB, we wish you a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year...be safe, be happy, and good health to you all.

Live Music In Jeapordy!!!

To all our friends out there!!

Live music, is in DIRE JEAPORDY of becoming EXTINCT! Yes, and its fast approaching. Due to the Illinois DUI laws and the non-smoking law; clubs, bars, taverns, live venues; are dropping live music. The real reason is there arent clientel that come out to listen to live music. And yes, this is a shameless plug to promote the band to some degree; but not for just PHB. The live band scene will soon cease to exist for those who DO enjoy live music.
What can you do? Well, go out and listen and dance to your favorite bands and tell your friends, family and aquaitences to do the same. Hopefully, before its too late. The truth is that once the musicians retire, they tend not to revitalize.
So, help us out! Keep live music...well...LIVE!

Patsy Cline Show a HUGE success

Howdy folks!

Just a note to update ya'all. Pearl Handle performed with Sherrill Douglas in her Patsy Cline Tribute 'Crazy 'bout Patsy' at Boot City. It was a packed house with even an overflow. She was very well recieved and we should be back in 2009 doing more shows there with her.

Our thanks to Larry Poss for filling in as Jerry had a previous engagement.

Patsy Cline "Sherrill Douglas" Show This Weekend

Just a note to all our friends.. PHB will be in La Plata, MO this coming Saturday (9/9/08) as the band for Sherrill Douglas, ala Patsy Cline. Sherrill is considered the number one Patsy Cline Tribute artist in the USA and in Europe. We are looking forward to this show, with more coming soon. Band members for the Patsy Cline show are: Stacy, Randal, Greg (on instruments and Jordanairs backup), Jerry Erickson, and Justin Hays.

Rick Perez Benefit

To all our friends and family... Pearl Handle Band, as well as other bands will be performing at Sneaky Petes, Sept. 28th to raise funds for Ricks very expensive medical bills. Please come out and help us raise money for Rick. In the meantime, keep Rick in your thoughts and prayers.

Patsy Cline Show Band Members

PHB has just finalized our Patsy Cline Show (Sherrill Douglas) band members. All our Patsy Cline shows will be a special lineup. Sherrill has bookings all over the world..and although we cant do them all, we will be doing a significant amount of them. In any case, here is the lineup:

July 26 Gig with Jerry

Well folks...those who were at the show Saturday night was treated to a very fine sit-in guitarist, Jerry Erickson. One of the very best guitarists/pedal steel guitarists in the entire state.
Those who missed it...well, you really missed it. :(

Patsy Cline Show Success

Well Folks

The Patsy Cline Show we did at The Lincoln Square Theater was a HUGE success. :) We are signed up to do three more this year with a return show the the Lincoln Square and two more in La Plata Missouri.
We are looking forward to doing this show with the VERY talented Sherrill Douglas as 'Miss Patsy Cline'
We were extremely impressed with her showmanship, professionalism, and drop dead accuracy in voice and chat of the late Patsy Cline. Far better than the 'Always-Patsy Cline Show'.

When near your area, you should make a point to see her. She is amazing!!!
